Tweety asked: I bought a car in a different city than I live in with a warranty. Now my car needs some work but I don’t want to have to drive 30min to that city to get the work done. Do I have to go back to that city to get the warranty honored?

It depends on what kind of warranty you have. If it’s a dealership warranty … only the dealer will honor it. If it’s a manufacturer’s warranty, like Gen. Motors for instance, than any General Motors dealership will honor the warranty.

if this is original factory warranty, then you can go to any dealership of that make and they will honor it. if this is an aftermarket warranty, you may have to contact them. there should be a contact number on your copy of the warranty

No…not if it’s a Factory Warranty. If it’s actually an Extended Service Contract, or something to that effect, you had better read it carefully.

Well yes wartanys are issued by that sellers and are never transferable.
Must be returned to the isseer of the warenty to get work done under waranty.
Or pay for repairs

Check with the dealer in the city of your choice to see if they handle the the type warrenty you have.

I am assuming that this is a Manufacturers Warranty.
The short answer is no.
The long answer is no, but some dealers have been known to schedule their own customers ahead of other customers. This is not correct, but it does happen. You do need to go to the same brand dealer, not just the same company unless it is a vehicle down issue.
If it is a service contract, contact the 800 number on the paperwork to see if it is transferable to a dealer in your area.
If the dealership has their own warranty, you probably have to go back to the dealership that you bought the policy from.

You will probably need to call the warranty company. I had a warranty issue with my vehicle and as long as an ASE certified tech does the work at a shop they usually don’t have a problem.

where I live 30 min drive would be a blessing
